Well, this is a biggie, isn’t it?

I’m sure those of us who’ve been in the world of hypnosis, especially erotic hypnosis, know how absolutely vile some of the online spaces can be.

There are bad actors everywhere, so how can you protect yourself?

First of all, safewords. Safewords safewords safewords.

Discuss safewords with your hypnotist, and make sure they are familiar with what words or signals you may give if you’re in distress. 

If you can’t have this conversation with your hypnotist, you should not be playing with that hypnotist to begin with.

Same thing with disclosing your limits. 

A very easy way to see if a person is safe to play with is to see how the conversation about safety goes. 

So many people forget that hypnosis is past SSC play (Safe, Sane, Consensual), and closer to RACK (Risk Aware Consensual Kink).

The human mind…

Well, let’s skip a bit and bring this up, the example that most hypnotists default to when reassuring a subject: “I can’t just tell you to rob a bank, you wouldn’t do it unless you already wanted to.”

That is a major misrepresentation. 

While no, I couldn’t make you rob a bank in one session, there are definitely things I could push you to do if you didn’t originally want them, with enough time.

The human mind is malleable. More malleable than most people allow themselves to believe. 

Because it’s scary.

It’s scary to know that if you talk with someone for long enough, if you meet enough times, they can wind their way into your deepest parts and manipulate you beyond your awareness. 

But it’s true.

Hypnosis isn’t just “play”.

Hypnosis is a state of mind, a mode of consciousness to which you’re brought through words or sounds. 

Hypnosis is like a backdoor into the human mind, where cheat codes can be injected if the right words are heard in the right order. 

In that way, I guess it is magick in a way… In that the power is in the meaning.

Obviously, it wouldn’t be easy to convince someone to – in this example – rob a bank. 

It would take much time and many sessions, and if the subject wasn’t on board with robbing a bank initially, they would be irrevocably changed by the hypnosis. 

But with enough coaxing, enough pleasure, enough promise of more…

That’s why you need to trust yourself. 

If a hypnotist makes your alarm bells go off, RUN. 

You’re playing with your subconscious mind, and therefore you need to listen to its signals. 

Obviously, this isn’t to say that if the hypnotist doesn’t make things go off they’re automatically ok to be assumed to be safe… But there are some things that a mind knows. 

“Maybe I shouldn’t be doing this now?”

RUN

“Something feels off…”

RUN

Your mind is not replaceable. You’ve only got one, and you need to take care of it. 

Use your safewords, use the stoplight system, and VET YOUR HYPNOTISTS BEFORE YOU ALLOW THEM TO TRANCE YOU.
